RIP protocol
RIP (
Routing Information Protocol
) is a routing protocol which enables
each router belonging to a network to acquire the routes to any subnet.
The principle is as follows :
Routing table
Each router holds a routing table.
Each entry of the table consists in the destination subnet address and the
adjacent router address leading to that subnet.
Routing table broadcasting :
Each router broadcasts its table
.
Routing table update :
Each router updates its own table using the tables received from the other
ones.
