Net3 Four Port Gateway Setup Guide
Under the Module Cover
Here is a small bit of service information for you if you are technically inclined. There is an
assumed level of knowledge that goes with the information being provided (i.e. how to pull
an IC chip without bending the pins and how to work around delicate electronics).
If for any reason you don’t feel comfortable working around delicate electronics (it’s not for
everyone), then you should contact your local ETC dealer or ETC office for service and
support options. ETC office contact information can be found in
One of the most common issues a DMX device can encounter is an electrical surge/spike
that comes down the line and “pop” or burn out the DMX transceiver chip. Under the
module’s cover, each of the modules contain a socketed DMX transceiver chip for easy
replacement.
This DMX transceiver chip is a 75LBC182 (ETC Part # Z1458). For those of you familiar
with ETC’s other products, you may expect a 75176 chip here. The 75LBC182 is a more
robust chip that can withstand electrical spikes better than the 75176. However, the
75LBC182 is pin-compatible with the 75176 so either may be used in an emergency.

Special precautions should be taken to keep yourself grounded to avoid damaging
the equipment. ESD (Electro-Static Discharge) may damage the module’s
electronics.
