FireBall Client Server Products
Servers
A FireBall Server is a Fireball media management system that is capable of “serving” media to
other FireBalls over a network. There are several FireBall products which can serve media to
other FireBalls.

Clients
A FireBall Client is a FireBall that can play media from a FireBall Server over a network. There
are several different FireBall products that can play media from FireBall servers:

There are also several industry standard UPnP media adapters that can be used to stream
digital audio from a FireBall server. Some of these devices are:

Client Server Combinations
All current FireBall E (with the E2 software update), E2, and DVDM products with internal hard
drives can be both a client and a server, allowing you to share music files between two servers
creating two audio zones and access to both music libraries combined into the same interface.
For example, you can connect two DVDM-300s over an Ethernet network to create two zones
of digital audio accessing a total of 600GBs of music from both zones. You can connect any
hard drive based product to another hard drive based product, like an SE-80 connected to an
E2-400
Limitations
ƒ
Client-Server networking is limited to the same local subnet. You can not stream over
the Internet unless you are connected via VPN routers.
ƒ
Only MP3 and FLAC audio files can be streamed to clients. You can not stream WAV
files, CDs from the internal drive, or from CDs located in external changers.
ƒ Playlists that contain MP3s and non-streamable tracks will NOT appear on the clients.
ƒ
You may have an unlimited number of clients on the network, but you can only stream
to 4 clients simultaneously.
ƒ Movies can not be streamed over a network.
ƒ
Internet Radio can not be streamed (but it is available on all standalone products).
