non-HMC

activating
Electronic
Service
Agent
on
the
AIX
system
will
report
hardware
errors
along
with
hardware
and
software
service
information.
Follow
these
instructions
to
set
up
Electronic
Service
Agent
on
your
AIX
standalone
system/partition.
1.
Access
the
main
menu
on
Electronic
Service
Agent:
a.
Log
in
to
the
system
as
root,
or
sign
on
using
a
root-authorized
ID.
b.
Enter
smit
at
the
AIX
command
prompt.
c.
Type
smit
esa_main
.
d.
If
you
are
connecting
to
IBM
Support
through
a
direct
internet
connection,
proceed
to
3.

Configure
connectivity
by
performing
the
following
steps:
a.
Select
Configure
Service
Connectivity
.
b.
Select
Create/Change
Service
Configuration
.
c.
Select
Create/Change
Primary
Service
Configuration
.
d.
Select
the
appropriate
connection
type
(Direct
Internet,
HTTP
Proxy,
Dial).
Internet
connectivity
is
recommended,
because
service
information
files
can
be
large.

Complete
Secondary
and
Tertiary
Service
Configurations
if
desired.

At
the
main
menu,
select
Configure
Electronic
Service
Agent
.
