INTRODUCTION
General
The Endomed 581
ID
is a single-channel microproces-
sor-controlled unit providing low-frequency direct cur-
rent for stimulation and for limited diagnostic applica-
tions.
All direct current types are low-frequency constant cur-
rent (CC). With alternating currents, you can choose
between a constant current (CC) and a constant voltage
(CV) characteristic. In the design of the Endomed 581
ID
,
more attention than ever has been paid to ease of op-
eration, styling, functionality and safety.
Programs
The Endomed 581
ID
has two different kinds of programs:
preprogrammed and programmable programs. The pre-
programmed programs contain a wealth of physio-thera-
peutical knowledge. All these programs are described
in the therapy book with reference no. 1495.780.
The programmable programs (1 - 20) offer the possibil-
ity to the user of storing frequently used settings. These
programs remain stored, even if there is an interruption
in the mains supply. A special memory facility (Program
0) can ensure that, after switching on, the unit automati-
cally sets itself to the most frequently used current type.
Remote controls
Two types of remote controls can be used with the
Endomed 581
ID
; one for adjusting the amplitude of the
current channel and one for making S/d curves.
Current types
The Endomed 581
ID
offers the following current types:
•
Two pole interferential current
•
Symmetrical biphasic current
•
Asymmetrical biphasic current
•
Intermittent alternating current (Russian Stimulation)
•
Diadynamic currents MF, DF, LP, CP and CPid
•
Rectangular pulsed current (a.o. 2-5 current acc. to
Träbert)
•
Triangular pulsed current
•
Intermittent direct current
These current types will give you a wide range of present-
day low frequency treatment possibilities.
Two pole interferential current
Through the relatively high carrier wave frequencies of
2000, 2500, 4000, 6000 and 10000 Hz, and the absence
of direct current effects, the two pole interferential cur-
rent is suited for the treatment of deeper lying tissue.
With the classical four pole interferential current two
medium frequency alternating currents are used which
pass the skin with minimal resistance. On the crossing
point of the two currents an amplitude modulated fre-
quency (AMF or stimulation frequency) develops, which
has a maximal effect on deeper lying tissue structures
(muscles, tendons, bursae or periost). The Endomed
581
ID
uses two pole interference, with which the
interferential current is generated in the equipment it-
self, and thus only two electrodes are needed instead of
four.
By varying the AMF, the treatment can be adjusted to the
stage, the seriousness and the localisation of the injury.
By adjusting the frequency modulation and the frequency
modulation programs, accommodation of the tissue can
be suppressed during the treatment.
Electrotherapy and vacuummassage (picture 1, page 70)
Plug the patient cable (Art.no.: 3444.088) into the socket
at the front of the Endomed 581
ID
and connect it to the
corresponding contacts at the back of the Vacotron 560.
The stimulation-current will be applied through the
vacuum electrodes.
Combination of stimulation-current and ultrasound
(picture 2, page 70)
Plug the connection cable (Art.no.: 3444.079) into the
socket at the front of the Endomed 581
ID
and connect it
to the corresponding socket at the back of the Sonopuls
590.
The stimulation-current will be applied through the red
plug of the patient cable through the plate electrode and
ultrasound treatment head. When combination therapy
is used the plate electrode is used as the anode, the
treatment head is used as the cathode.
