(2 ) Dual-wire parking lig ht systems – A few
vehicles (mainly Euro pean) have
separate circuits fo r the parking lig hts o n
the rig ht and left sides o f the vehicle.
In this case, co nnect o ne no n-fused
O RANG E WIRE to the rig ht- side circuit,
and the o ther to the left- side circuit.
D. Dual Po wer Pro tectio n (DPP
TM
)
With DPP, if yo u co nnect the fused O RANG E
WIRE to + 1 2 V, it beco mes a seco nd po wer
so urce fo r the alarm brain if the fused RED
WIRE is cut. This wo rks o nly if this O RANG E
WIRE is co nnected to a separate so urce o f
+ 1 2 VDC fro m the RED WIRE.
Connector 2 (8-pin connector)
BLACK WIRE (to chassis ground) , fig. 2
C ho o se a g o o d chassis g ro und lo catio n. This is
the mo st impo rtant po int o f a successful
installatio n. A po o r g ro und co nnectio n will
cause the siren to co ntinuo usly emit a lo w siren
so und whenever the alarm is armed.
Use o ne o f the car’ s facto ry bo lts to co nnect to
chassis g ro und. If no ne is available, scrape
paint and dirt fro m the metal surface, and use a
g ro unding lug and star washer.
Connector 2 (8-pin connector)
WHITE WIRE (to starter disable),
figs. 3a, 3b, 3c
C o nnect to an o ptio nal 3 0 A relay to prevent the
car fro m starting when the alarm is armed.
A. Lo cate the starter so leno id wire (carries
po wer fro m the ig nitio n switch to the starter
so leno id). This wire must sho w + 1 2 VDC
o nly when the ig nitio n is in the start po sitio n.
B.
C ut the starter so leno id wire.
C . Test the starter so leno id wire as fo llo ws:
(1 ) If the wire is cut befo re the eng ine is
started, the eng ine sho uld no t turn o ver.
(2 ) If the wire is cut while the eng ine is
running, there sho uld be no effect.
D. C o nnect the WHITE WIRE and the two halves
o f the cut starter so leno id wire to the relay as
sho wn in fig . 3 a.
E.
If the eng ine still starts, co nnect terminal 8 6
to a wire which sho ws + 1 2 VDC when the
eng ine is bo th starting and running (fig. 3 b).
F.
NO TE reg arding N.C ./ N.O . o utput – The
starter disable o utput is pro g rammable fo r
N.C . o r N.O . o peratio n. Default is N.C .
(See PRO G RAMMING , pag e 1 8 .) If N.O .
starter disable o utput is required, co nnect the
ig nitio n switch side o f the starter so leno id
wire to terminal 8 7 o f the starter disable
relay instead o f 8 7 a, as sho wn in fig. 3 c,
then cut the LP1 jumper (see fig. 2 7 o n pag e
1 6 ). All o ther co nnectio ns are the same.
