Control and Status Commands
This chapter describes the Tempus LX control and status commands. The Tempus LX supports
several application-specific commands for performing initialization/setup and for monitoring the
performance and status of the NTP and GPS subsystems. You do not need knowledge of Linux com-
mands in order to operate the Tempus LX. However, the Tempus LX does support a subset of the
standard Linux shell commands and utilities. A wealth of information is available from a variety of
other sources on Linux. Only the Tempus LX specific commands will be described in this chapter.
The serial I/O port physical and electrical characteristics are defined as well.
General Linux Shell
Operation
You do not need to know Linux in order to operate the Tempus LX. However, for those interested,
the command shell used by the Tempus LX is the Linux standard:

. All commands and file
names are case sensitive, which is standard for Unix-like operating systems. If you are unfamiliar
with Unix-like operating systems, and you would like to be able to more closely monitor or optimize
the performance of your Tempus LX you should consult either the web
