Device Xpert software
The Device Xpert configuration software from Hauser supports the Field Xpert as a
complete HART communicator for industrial applications.
6.1
Device Xpert - Overview
Field Xpert is supplied with Device Xpert device configuration software for device commissioning,
diagnosis and maintenance. It is available in English and German and supports all registered HART
field devices. Device Xpert enables automatic scanning of the HART network as well as quick and
easy configuration and diagnosis of the available devices.

Device Xpert - Getting Started
1 In order to configure a HART field device using the Device Xpert software, connect your PDA
via modem or Fieldgate to the appropriate field device.
2 Start the Device Xpert software and select "Device", "Scan". Device Xpert then searches the
connected network for HART devices and automatically assigns the appropriate device driver
(DD) to the connected devices.
3 Open the device driver, and configure the parameters you require. To complete configuration,
click on the "X" in the lower menu bar to enter all of your changes into your field device.
4 By supporting special functions, Device Xpert guarantees a fast and flexible mode of operation.
For example, envelope curves from Hauser time-of-flight level transmitters are
supported. Device descriptions (DD) are distributed and updated automatically via the internet
or WLAN.
