External Shunt Option Wiring
The DC Bus (J2) connector (see page 24) allows access to the DC bus for
applications requiring an external shunt regulator.
Note: T h e external shunt regulator must be able to sense the DC bus
voltage and switch the shunt resistor in and out of the circuit as
needed to maintain acceptable bus voltage.
The shunt power rating required is determined by the application.
The connection for an external shunt regulator is between Bus- and Bus+.
External Shunt Regulator Requirements:
• S h u n t trip On voltage: 395 to 410 VDC
• S h u n t trip Off voltage: 380 to 390 VDC
• M i n i m u m resistance: 22 Ohms (limited by J2 connector current rating)
• P o w e r Requirements: Application dependent
Note: Yo u should mount the external shunt so that the heat it generates
does not affect the drive.

CAUTION
Use caution when removing the plastic punch-out tab. A C power
must be disconnected for at least 5 minutes before removing the tab
and/or connecting the DC Bus wires.
