Standby Power Supply (SPS)
About the SPS
Two 1000-watt dc SPSs provide backup power for one CX700 SPE and
the first (enclosure 0, loop 0) DAE2 or DAE2P adjacent to it. The two
SPSs provide higher availability and allow write caching — which
prevents data loss during a power failure — to continue. A faulted or
not fully charged SPS disables write caching.
Each SPS rear panel has one ac inlet power connector with power
switch, ac outlets for the CX700 SPE and the DAE respectively, one
phone-jack type connector, and status lights (LEDs).
IMPORTANT:
Improper storage and handling of an SPS will render the
warranty null and void. See Appendix A for appropriate SPS storage
requirements.
Figure 4-1 shows a 1000-watt SPS unit.
