Carrying out the battery replacement:
1. Save the data as a precautionary measure (
→
3.9:
Save
).
2. Open up the housing cover and swivel it downwards. The batteries are then accessible
in the bottom part of the housing.
3. Check the type and order number of the new batteries.
C
Tip:
Mark the old batteries, e.g. with a felt-tip pen or sticker before you start the
battery replacement. This avoids any later confusion.
4. At least one battery pack (two batteries) must always be connected to the two upper or
the two lower plugs. If this is not the case, archives may be deleted, volume pulses
may be lost during the battery replacement and the clock may be slow after battery
replacement.
5. Insert the new batteries and connect to the free plugs in parallel to the old battery pack
(both are electrically isolated). The plugs are polarised against incorrect connection.
6. Pull off the old batteries from the plugs and remove.
7. Reclose the device (make sure that the cable is not pinched).
8. The initial capacity must be re-entered under "Service" - "Battery capacity" (
→
3.9:
BAT.C
) (this is essential even with the same capacity value)!
With the use of battery packs obtainable from Elster GmbH with two size "D" cells, the
value 13.0 Ah should be entered for
Bat.C
and 26.0 Ah when 4 cells are used.
9. Check the operating life calculated by the EK260: For
Bat.R
(
→
3.9) at least 60 months
must be displayed. If this is not the case, carry out the step 8 again.
10. End of the battery replacement.
