
PREPARING THE ELECTRODE
Special care is to be paid while preparing the electrode tip. Grind the tip so that it shows vertical lines (markings) as shown in Figure
below.
WARNING:
flying hot metal particles can cause serious injury to personnel, cause fire and damage equipment.
WARNING:
tungsten contamination may adversely affect the weld quality. Contact of the tungsten electrode with the welding bath
is to be avoided.
Shape tungsten electrode only with a grinder equipped with adequate protective guards in a safe location and wearing adequate
protections for face, hands and body. Shape tungsten electrodes with a fine grit, hard abrasive wheel used only for tungsten shaping.
Grind the tip of the tungsten electrode to a taper for a length of 1,5 – 2 times the electrode diameter.
