2.3.12
Initial commission
For the first start-up after installation of the cabinet, the following procedures have to be executed:
•
Confirm that the connection cables to be used are of a satisfactory cross section!
•
Check if the factory settings of set values, safety and monitoring functions and communication are suitable for
your intended application of the device and adjust them if required, as described in the manual!
•
Before using remote control via PC, read the additional documentation for interfaces and software!
•
Before using remote control via the analog interface, read the section in this manual concerning analog interfaces!
2.3.13
Commission after a firmware update or a long period of non-use
In case of a firmware update, return of the equipment following repair or a location or configuration change, similar
measures should be taken to those of initial start up. Refer to
Only after successful checking of the device as listed may it be operated as usual.
2.3.14
Removing units
In case of a defect of a slave unit it is possible for the cabinet to continue running with the remaining units. In
order to remove an unit for repair or to replace it, a certain procedure is required (see below). After that and when
powering the cabinet again, the master unit will automatically detect the altered configuration and present itself
accordingly in the display or to remote control software. With the standard configuration being temporarily unavail
-
able, the rated current and power of the cabinet are reduced, as well as the device name will change according to
the product key as described in
Following steps are to perform to remove a slave unit:
1. Power off the cabinet with an external main switch or by switching off all units with their rotary mains switch
on the front.
2. For the unit going to be removed:
a. Remove the strain relief (strap) from the AC supply cable.
b. Loosen the fixture that fixes the AC input connector plug.
c. Remove the AC connector plug.
d. Remove the plug from connector “Share”. If master unit: remove plug from connector “Sense”, if being used.
e. Remove the patch cable or both, if unit is in the middle, from the master-slave bus connectors. Later, for the
operation of the cabinet without the removed unit, the bus must be connected again from the upper to the
lower unit by using a longer cable.
f. If master unit: remove any other possibly connected cable from the digital or analog
g. Loosen the nuts/bolts on the DC output and remove them (2-6 pieces). Before doing so make sure that the
DC output doesn’t have dangerous voltage anymore, probably by checking it with a multimeter.
h. Remove the screws on the front (4x).
i. Carefully and slowly retract the unit from the cabinet.
2.3.15
Inserting units
The procedure of inserting units again is the same like when removing an unit, only vice versa. See steps described
. Before going to insert an unit make sure the cabinet is completely switched off or bet
-
ter, disconnected from AC supply.
2.3.16
Adding further units
Some models have one or two spare positions for further slave units to install later in order to extend the total power.
The slave units can be purchased and delivered separately and installed on location. See
details. There are a few things to consider before extending the cabinet:
•
When installing one or two additional slaves, the previous cabinet configuration will be modified regarding total
current, total power and the device name. The ratings as printed on the type label will become invalid. Actually,
even the article number is not valid anymore. This doesn’t affect operation, but in cases of seeking support or
returning a cabinet for repair, it is an important detail
•
Existing cables on the AC and DC side would have to be replaced by bigger ones matching the higher current
•
The slave units to add must be of the same model as the already existing slave units
•
Depending on the resulting current after the installation of additional units, further bars on the DC bus have to
be installed. Contact us so we can assemble the correct set for you.
