Introduction and test setup
3.6 Otoacoustic emission (Shift-OAE, DP-gram and TEOAE)
•
The choice
of
the right EarTip is particularly important for the quality of the measurement.
You can choose from 10 different sizes. The tip must provide the following functionalities:
1.
It must
ensure
that the probe is held securely in the patient's ear.
2.
It
must
not be pressed against a wall of the ear canal.
3.
It must be hermetically sealed to prevent acoustic leaks and isolate from the noise.
•
Fit the
tip
to the probe.
•
Insert
the probe in the patient's ear canal.
Check that the 3 small holes at the end of the probe are not blocked. If necessary, replacement tips are deliv-
ered with the unit.
Using an otoscope, make sure that the ear canal is not obstructed by ear-wax.
This operation must be carried out by a qualified person.
