Regenerative Network Programming
The regenerative network capability of the EST IRC-3 CM2N remote
panels is a unique, state-of-the-art feature of multiplex fire alarm
systems. Upon loss of RS-485 data communications with the CM1N,
RMDP-1N or multi-line head end, a CM2N remote panel can continue
RS-485 communication with other CM2N remote panels and/or serial
annunciators by converting it's communication protocol from a polling
network to a token passing network. In addition, CM2Ns and serial
annunciators can be grouped together in "families" and function as a
fully operational separate sub-system in a regenerative mode. One of
the major advantages of this feature is the ability of a single-line
network system to operate redundantly with only one CM1N. When the
system is configured with all zones supported by CM2N remote panels,
the CM1N (without any option cards installed) functions as the primary
CPU. In a regenerative mode, each CM2N has the ability to continue
communication with ALL other CM2Ns and serial annunciators. This
feature is also applicable where the total IRC-3 system network may
consist of several buildings or multiple CM2Ns in a single enclosure.
The regenerative network capability requires RS-485 communications
to function properly. The 20 mA loop and fiber optic styles of
communications do not support regenerative network operations due to
alternate methods of data transmission.
For the IRC-3 CM2Ns to have a regenerative capability, the following
programming must be accomplished:
Step 1
Define Action 9006 to establish the regenerative network token passing
list.
The panel address(es) of ALL CM2Ns that require the ability to
communicate to other CM2Ns or serial annunciators must be entered
into Action 9006. Action 9006 must be multi-resident to each CM2N in
the list so that each CM2N can maintain the required interaction
between itself and other CM2Ns or serial annunciators. Each Activate
Action entry of Action 9006 requires four digits - two digits per panel
address. If an odd number of CM2N panels makeup the system polling
list, the last panel address is the first two digits of the entry; 00 are the
second two digits of the entry.
Action # 9006
Multi-resident panel addresses enter ALL CM2N base panel addresses.
All other panel addresses associated with a CM2N (i.e., one or two
ZAS cards in a panel) will be accounted for.
