9.5 Opening and closing the Handlamp
Warning: Do not open the Handlamp in the Ex area!
9.5.1 Handlamp head
It may become necessary to open the Handlamp head to remove any dirt that has got
inside the housing. To open the Handlamp head, disassemble the front screen on the
Handlamp head by loosening the screw. Refer to Fig. 6. The screen can now be carefully
removed. The LED housings must not be opened. Do not remove the lighting unit. After
removal of the front screen, the Handlamp head can then be carefully cleaned. Please
make sure that the lamp is not damaged. Before using the SHL 300-Ex again, the screen
has to be re-installed - otherwise the mechanical safety of the torch is no longer guaran-
teed.
9.5.2 Housing
The unit must only be opened outside the Ex area by ecom instruments GmbH,
Assamstadt, or a person instructed by ecom instruments GmbH, Assamstadt.
The diffusing filter fixture may be removed for cleaning purposes (the LED housings must
not be opened). Without the diffusing filter fixture installed, the Handlamp must not be
taken to the Ex area.
9.6 LED replacement
The Handlamp is equipped with three very durable high-performance LEDs. Therefore,
replacement is usually not required. However, in the unusual case of a LED fault or when
the illumination power decreases, the Handlamp has to be returned to the manufac-
turer for inspection and repair. Any repair work carried out on the Handlamp or the LED
housings by the user will invalidate any warranty and is liable to affect the integrity of the
safety of the unit.
