5.10.3 OTAP Recovery Mode
When a machine cannot verify the safe state or other
required OTAP parameters, users can initiate the OTAP
Recovery Mode for remote programming. The OTAP
Recovery Mode utilizes the TFX’s indicator LEDs and Morse
Code to verify the machine’s safe state when there is no
proper application on the HFX controller, or if there are
missing required parameters, to communicate with the TFX.

Diagnosis via micro-USB port
For diagnosis purposes, you can connect the device directly
to a PC via the micro-USB port (type B) and check the
device variables.
NOTICE
Risk of property damage
Pay attention that the micro-USB plug is correctly aligned to
the micro-USB port of the TFX before being plugged in and
that it is plugged in without using excessive force. Incorrect
alignment during connection or the use of excessive force
could cause damage to the micro-USB port.
NOTICE
The connection via the micro-USB port is not suitable for
carrying out a configuration update. For detailed information
on how to carry out a configuration update, see chapter
Configuration update.
INFORMATION
Before you connect the device to a USB port on your PC,
install the USB driver packet from Eaton.com/TFX. See
chapter Installing software.
1. Connect the device to a PC with the USB-A to
micro-USB-B cable
2. Connect the device to the power supply grid with the
cable CLM3 start cable, 6 open, 2 dsub, 1 pw, 2 m
and the power supply unit from the starter kit.

3. Start the EATON Configurator software.

new demo configuration. If not already available, add
