Sonix 2Mx Technical Manual

SONIX 2MX TECHNICAL MANUAL

TM370 / A  June 2022  www.eaton.com

In order to function correctly care must be taken when

confi guring the Sonix systems to ensure that both

sides have identical priorities, Alarm tones and zoning.

Please discuss your requirements with your local Eaton

representative.

AB+ allows systems to be designed with an imbalance

in the input sources, Figure 12 shows a system with

the Ms12 message store connected to the B side

only. When any source is active, its audio and control

information is shared between the 2Mx controllers

and so can be routed to available to both systems

simultaneously.

7.2.1  AB+

The Sonix feature, AB+, is an evolution for A&B

systems. Its primary purpose to provide 100% coverage

even when systems are in fault/out of balance. The

feature makes extensive use of the Sync Bus to allow

both systems to ‘see’ the active alarms and broadcasts

on the other system. This allows the 2Mx controller in

each system to make an informed decision about what

should be active on its system and can choose the

broadcast, and synchronised with, the other systems

active audio.

The specific advantages of this are that any imbalance

in the inputs, either by design or due a fault, is

automatically duplicated and full coverage maintained.
