Creating a project config-
uration of the SmartWire-
DT network
Create the project configuration in the PLC control configu-
ration. Among other things define the number, part no. and
sequence of SmartWire-DT slaves and which SmartWire-DT
coupling unit is being operated (PROFIBUS-DP slave or CAN
device).
The following files are used for integration of the SmartWire-
DT gateway into the control configuration:
•
For CANopen
: an EDS description file
(EDS = Electronic Data Sheet) that contains the standard-
ized descriptions of the CANopen slaves.
•
For PROFIBUS-DP
: a device master file (GSD file) which
contains a standardized description of the SmartWire-DT
gateway.
When the PLC program is written to the PLC, the project
configuration is also transmitted to the SmartWire-DT
gateway and verified with the target configuration saved
there. If the project and target configurations match, data
exchange can begin.

configure a SmartWire-DT gateway with its SmartWire-DT
slaves in the configuration software for the PLC.

You can use the SWD-Assist design software to create a
project-specific GSD file, which the programming system’s
field bus configurator can use if it has the required import
function.
