4.7 Earthing
4.7.1
Equipment
There are two methods for earthing the cables:
Single-pole slow earthing
Three-pole high-speed earthing
A bag containing earthing equipment is available for single-
pole slow earthing of cable panels. The equipment
comprises:
- 3 earthing caps
- 3 earthing cables or an earthing spider
- 1 short-circuit strip
- 1 earth mounting rod
Materials required for earthing
These earthing caps are also suitable for use in
combination with phase testing equipment (e.g. MUCO).
The standard earthing cap may have screw or ball head
type contacts.
A bag containing high-speed earthing equipment and a
corresponding switch-on lever is available for three-pole
high-speed earthing.
The loose earthing cables are provided with screw type
contacts. The earthing spider always has connecting
clamps on the ball head type contacts.

A set of earthing pins with screw or ball head type contacts
is available for earthing transformers connected to the fuse
panel. These earthing pins can be fitted in the fuse holder
using the mounting rod.
