Plastic-insulated cable in a top
connection
A top connection has a construction similar to that of a
bottom connection. But with a top connection the insulating
conduits around the connection pins are filled with a
moisture-repellent filling compound.

AUTION
Terminate the cable cores and the splice in
accordance with the cable manufacturer’s
instructions.

ARNING

Always earth the installation.
•
Never work on a live or partly live installation.
Proceed as follows:
1. Terminate the cable.
2. Cut off the sealing plug to half the diameter of the
cable or panel pilot cone.
3. Slide the sealing plug up the cable.
4. Connect the cables (refer to one of the preceding
paragraphs, according to the type of cable used).
5. Heat the type Z5 filling compound (up to 110 °C) and
keep stirring until it is fluid.

Wear hand protection when holding the heated
can in order to prevent burns.

EMARK
Create space for pouring in the compound
by pressing the cable to one side of the conduit.
6. Pour the compound into the three insulating conduits
until they are entirely filled.
7. Leave the compound to cool down for one hour.
8. Slide the sealing plugs up the insulating conduits.
9.
Fit the two protection covers and secure them.
