5.5
Batteries
The vehicle is equipped with nine 8 volt flooded cell lead acid batteries or the optional
maintenance free lithium batteries. The following in formation applies to both types of
batteries unless otherwise stated. The batteries are located down the center of the vehicle
under the battery covers. There are several simple steps that can be taken to achieve
maximum battery life and performance.
5.5.1
Battery Watering (Flooded lead acid batteries only)
Make sure to fill batteries with water monthly or promptly when there is any indicated need.
The batteries must be refilled with distilled or de-mineralized water to avoid internal damage.
Electrolyte levels lower during discharge and rise during charge.
Therefore, it is mandatory
that water be added to cells ONLY when they are fully charged.
Older batteries may
require more frequent watering than new batteries. (See section
6.1.2 Battery Water Filling
for battery watering procedure)
