When using the device, remember that kitchen scales were designed for precise weighing of
small items, and must not be overloaded; try to estimate the weight of the article to prevent
overloading. For larger weights, try to divide the load into smaller units before weighing.
Kitchen scales can measure up to 3 kg. Overloading can cause irrepairable damage which
qualifies as heavy handling.
•
The item to be weighed must be placed in the middle of the scale. Avoid asymetric loading.
•
If the error message “EEEE” appears on the LCD display, this means that an excessively heavy
object was placed onto the weighing plate and the scales are overloaded – in such cases,
the weighing surface must immediately be unloaded.
•
To make a tared measurement, wait for automatic zeroing, ie place the empty bowl on the
weighing surface and wait for its weight to be displayed. Briefly touch the ‘ON/OFF-TARE’
button: the previous display will clear and automatically zero the value again. The weight of
any solid or liquid placed in the bowl will be displayed directly, with the weight of the bowl
excluded. If this Tare function is in use, the display shows ‘TARE’.
Important! When weighing with taring, you must respect the maximum total load bearing
capacity of 3 kg when loading the weighing plate.
•
The device can also be used as a zero indicator because the LCD-screen can display negative values e.g. if you
want to weigh identical weights during a series of measurements or the difference from a reference gauge
(excess or deficit of weight). This can be done by using taring measurement. In such cases taring must be
performed after weighing a reference weight, which must then be removed and a set of readings compared
to this first measurement.
•
If you want to switch off the device after weighing, press and hold down the ON-/OFF and taring button for
about 2 seconds continuously. Alternatively the device will automatically switch off approximately 1 minute
after the last use, if the weighing surface is empty.
MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
Warning!
Before cleaning, the scales must be switched off. It is very important not to immerse the device or
hold it under a jet of water!
•
Clean the outside cover of the appliance with a damp, soft, lint-free cloth and then wipe the cleaned
surfaces with a dry lint-free cloth. Take care not to allow any moisture inside the cover. Let the appliance dry
completely before re-using or storing it.
•
Wash the bowl in water containing soft, neutral dish-washing liquid, and then rinse it under running water.
Before packing let it dry completely.
•
After replacing the battery, replace the cover on the battery holder box. After inserting new batteries, the
kitchen scales are ready to use.
Important safety information
• Never dispose of the replaced batteries in the household waste, because they will endanger the
environment! Please use a dedicated waste container provided for this purpose or a collecting
station for disposing of used batteries!
• Never throw the batteries in the fire, because they can explode.
USING OF APPLIANCE
Before use
1. Unpack the appliance and remove all the packing materials.
Examine the device to make sure it’s complete and has not suffered any damage. You should only use the
device if all parts are present and undamaged.
2. Before use, place the kitchen scales on a horizontal, flat area of a table or workplate.
Do not leave anything under the scales which might cause the support legs to topple or be unevenly
balanced, or block the bottom plate of the scales (e.g. napkin), as this can affect weighing accuracy. Ensure
there is enough space around the scales covers to prevent contact with walls, furniture or any other object
that can cause false measurements.
Use and operational modes of kitchen scales
•
The device can display the weight of objects on the weighing plate – up to a maximum of 3 kg (in Imperial
units up to 6.6 lbs.) - in four measuring units on the LCD display:
• in grams (gs) • kilograms (kgs)
• in ounces (ozs) • pounds (lbs)
•
The desired measuring unit can be set in measuring mode using the unit selecting buttons (MODE).
•
Press the “ON/OFF/ZERO” button. Each symbol will be displayed on the monitor for a short while to check the
correct operation of the display.
•
If you see “UNST” on the display, it means that the device has been moved during the change into measuring
operation mode. The balance must be stable and nothing should be put on it before zeroing.
•
After zeroing the device place the object to be measured onto the weighing surface. Ensure that the item
rests only on the weighing surface of the balance and does not touch the furniture, wall surface or anything
else, because this would invalidate the measurement result. The measurement results can be read from the
LCD, in the units previously set.
