4.2 Lens Mounting
Before installing your camera, you will want to install the camera lens. Note that the camera
lens is sold separately (See
Accessories ) and should be selected to match the needs of the
scene and to optimize the use of the cameras capabilities.
Auto Iris VS DC lens
Manual iris lens are best limited for use in scenes where illumination never changes, such as
a persistently lit store or office. Auto iris is better suited for scenes where the lighting may
vary throughout the day and night.
Note: A smaller the focal length number allows a wider field of view. A large number
represents a narrower and deeper field of view.
The trade-off is in the amount of detail and depth of view vs. the width of view. For example
a 2.8 or 4 mm lens might be sufficient for indoor warehouse and office and an 8mm might be
better suited for outdoor perimeters.
After you select your lenses and see the amount of detail provided consider your security
surveillance coverage, camera locations and any additional needs that may be discovered.
