Charging the battery (fig. 45)
Before charging the battery, it is best to remove it from the
motorcycle.
Loosen the fastening screws (1) of the battery mount.
Release the strap from the side retainers and remove the
cover (2).
Always disconnect the black negative terminal (-) first, and
then the red positive terminal (
+ ).
Slide the battery rearwards to take it out of its mount.
Warning
Batteries develop explosive gases: keep it away from
heat sources.
Charge the battery in a ventilated room.
Connect the battery charger leads to the battery terminals
(red to positive terminal
+ , black to negative terminal - ).
Important
Make sure the charger is off when you connect the
battery to it, or you might get sparks at the battery
terminals that could ignite the gases inside the cells.
Always connect the red positive terminal first.
