Charging the battery
(fig. 42)
Before charging the battery, it is best to remove it from
the motorcycle.
Unscrew the screws (1) securing the battery mounting
tray to the frame.
Remove the cover (2), releasing the elastic strap from the
two side clips.
First disconnect the black negative terminal (
-
), then the
red positive terminal (
+
).
Slide the battery towards the rear of the motorcycle in
order to remove it from the mounting tray.
Warning
The battery produces explosive gases: keep it away
from heat sources and flames.
Charge the battery in a well-ventilated area.
Connect the battery charger leads to the battery terminals:
red to the positive terminal (
+
), black to the negative
terminal (
-
).
Important
Connect the battery to the charger before switching
on the charger to prevent sparks at the battery terminals
that could ignite the gases inside the cells.
Always connect the red positive terminal first.
