7.5.5 Advanced
Before making any changes to the Advanced settings page, please check the wireless settings
for all your wireless devices, as these changes will alter/change the router’s effectiveness. In
most cases, these settings do not need to be changed and should not be changed unless you
know what you are doing.
Max Connected Stations:
Specifies the Maximum allowed wireless stations to the router.
Fragmentation Threshold:
This value indicates how much of the router’s resources are
devoted to recovering packet errors. The default setting is 2,346. Only minor modifications of
this value are recommended.
RTS Threshold:
The default setting is 2,347. Only minor modifications of this value are
recommended.
Beacon Period:
A
beacon is a packet broadcast by the router to keep the network
synchronized. This value indicates the frequency interval of the Beacon signal.
DTIM Period:
This value indicates the interval of the Delivery Traffic Indication Message
(DTIM). A DTIM field is a countdown field informing clients of the next window for listening to
broadcast and multicast messages.
Preamble Type:
The preamble defines the length of the CRC block for communication between
the router and the roaming Network Card. There are three options:
Long
,
Short
and
Dynamic
.
Normally the high network traffic areas should use the shorter preamble type.
