cylinder locking band properly. Lock the stretch free end of the band on the velcro
of the same band that surrounds the cylinder. Insert the terminal end in the slot
of the backpack.
Important note: when handling the cylinder when it is not connected to the
pressure reducer, take extreme care not to cause accidental opening of the valve
because the violent air flow that would result could cause it to fall, rupture of the
valve and serious accidents!
7.2
Connecting the demand valve
Connect the demand valve to the pneumatic circuit coupling, by the medium
pressure quick coupling (if any) and verify, by pulling, that it is properly locked.
Slowly push the red button on the demand valve to make sure it is in stand-‐by
mode and therefore will not occur waste of air. We remind you that a versions
equipped with demand valve directly linked to the pressure reducer is available.
In this case, make sure that the demand valve is in the stand-‐by position.
Note: with regard to the preparations of the mask, refer to the appropriate full
face mask manual. Check that the inhalation gasket on the mask connector is
present in its seat.

Preliminary checks
These checks should be carried out as reported in the Summary Table in this
paragraph 14.
8.1
Checking of the cylinder filling
With the apparatus arranged as described above open the cylinder valve by at
least one complete revolution, after waiting for the indication has stabilized,
check that the reading of the pressure gauge shows a value close to the maximum
filling pressure value for the cylinder. Otherwise, replace the cylinder with
another fully charged.
8.2
Checking the pneumatic seal
Close the cylinder valve and check that the pressure gauge does not drop by more
than 5 bar in a minute. Otherwise send the device to maintenance.
8.3
Checking the warning device
DIABLO INDUSTRIAL MM, DIABLO ADVANCED, DIABLO PROFESSIONAL and
DIABLO INDUSTRIAL PIZ feature a patented system that allows the automatic
control of the warning device. All you need to do is open the cylinder and observe
the pressure gauge. The needle will take a few seconds to reach the set value of
warning device. During this time interval, the warning device will continue to
whistle audibly and regularly. Just after having reached the calibration value the
whistle will stop.
Note: the calibrated value of the whistle depends on the model of SCBA as
previously reported. If the behavior of the SCBA is as described, the device is
