The Answering Machine (540R)
Call Screening
Incoming messages will be heard on the base unit loudspeaker as they are
received. If there is no sound adjust the volume using VOL + or VOL -.
The call can be intercepted by pressing
Q
or lifting the handset of another
telephone connected to the same line.
If the recording does not terminate automatically, press
■
on the base unit.
Message Alert (base unit)
With this function selected a regular beep tone will be heard when a new
message has been recorded.
1. Press and hold

until the current setting is announced.
2. Press and hold
8 8
again to switch between On or Off.
Personal Message - MEMO
MEMO – is a personal message recorded directly onto the answering machine
without dialling. This means that the machine may be used as an electronic
notebook, where messages, reminders or other notes to family members or
colleagues can be recorded.
Each MEMO can be up to 2 minutes in length.

Press and hold

until you hear a beep.
2. Speak clearly towards the top of the base unit and record your MEMO
message.

Release

to stop recording.
4. Memos can be replayed as with any ICM by pressing
