The speaker configuration

Entering the speaker’s size

Your receiver needs to know whether the speaker boxes connected are big or small ones.
Subject to the size the speakers will receive also the low energy-ric hfrequencies. Small bo-
xes are mostly not able to reproduce these frequencies. They even may be overloaded and
thereby damaged by low frequencies.
Press the

SPK SETUP

button on the R/C repeatedly. Now the Front L/R => Center => sur-

round => rear surround speakers will be called in sequence. For the center and the sur-
round speaker you can use the +/— buttons to specify whether the respective box is

SMALL

,

LARGE

or missing (

NONE

). The front speakers are fixed as large ones and can not be changed.

Switching off the subwoofer

When the unit is in DOLBY or DTS mode

and

if the device is not in the SURROUND mode, you

can switch the subwoofer on or off using the

SUBWOOFER ON/OFF

key.

Delay time

For the Dolby Digital / Dolby Pro Logic II operation, you can set propagation delays in ms
(milliseconds) for the center and the surround speakers. Thus, the stereoscopic impression
can be intensified.
If you set the delay time in Dolby Digital operation, 15 ms are automatically added to the
surround channels in Dolby Pro Logic operation. The current setting appears in the display.
Press the

DELAY TIME

key of the remote control in Dolby Digital operation. In the display,

the speaker channel that is to be set is shown: “

S L/R

” for the surround speakers, “

B L/R

” for

the rear surround speakers and “

C

” for the center. Now press the +/— buttons, to set the

desired delay time
- for the surround channels to 0, 5, 10 or 15 ms
- for the rear surround channels to 15, 20, 25 or 30 ms
- and for the center channel to 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 ms.

In Dolby Pro Logic operation the following delay times are available:
- for the surround channels 10, 15, 20 or 25 ms
- for the rear surround channels 5, 10, 15 or 20 ms
- and for the center channel 0, 1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 ms.

In the surround operation modes, playback via the speakers that have been set like this is
now slightly delayed compared with the front speakers. Please determine the setting that is
optimal for your situation by changing the different parameters.

Dynamic compression

Using the

DYNAMIC

key, you can set the dynamic compression of the sound. By “Dyna-

mic”, we mean the difference in volume between very loud and very quiet passages, that
means between explosions and whispering e.g. if you have sensible neighbours or if you like
to watch action films during the night, you should set a preferably high compression (DRC =
4/4). With the setting DRC = 0/4, you receive full dynamic. Simply press the DYNAMIC key
repeatedly. The respectively set value is shown in the display.

Tipp:

Ø

Bei Programmquellen im DTS-Format ist keine Dynamik-Kompression möglich.
