9. Appliance-specific information
!CAUTION
•
The appliance-specific instructions as described in this section prevail over the instructions in the other
sections! If in doubt follow the instructions in section 9 or contact your supplier.
•
The appliance-specific information as described in paragraphs 9.1 to 9.5 applies to all models described in
this manual. Supplementary installation instructions (per appliance) are described in paragraph 9.6.
9.1 Smoke control area United Kingdom
The DG Fire Instyle corner slim 660/495 have been recommended as suitable for use in smoke control areas when
burning wood.
9.2 Convection connection and connection of the flue
9.2.1 Convection air connection
This appliance is provided with removable convection plates that have to be broken out when creating chimney
breast ventilation. The openings that are created in this way can be used to make a connection for convection air.
Here, hot convection air (outflow) is taken to a ventilation opening in the chimney breast. No extra provisions are
required for the inflow of cold convection air. The accessories needed for the outflow are available through your
supplier.
Various options are available for creating a convection air connection. Select the situation that applies to you and
proceed as follows:
New situation (hollow chimney breast made of non combustible material):
Option1:
Ø
Using a hammer, break out the plates for the convection air connection at the top of the appliance
(see appendix 2, fig. 2a).
Ø
Place the rings on the convection openings (see appendix 2, fig. 2b).
Ø
Slide a heat-resistant, flexible hose (Ø 125 mm) over the ring and fasten it with a hose clip or a self-tapping screw.
Ø
Connect the flexible hose to a ventilation element in the top of the chimney breast (at least 30 cm below the
ceiling). These accessories are available through your supplier.
Option 2:
Ø
Using a hammer, break out the 2 convection openings at the top of the appliance (see appendix 2, fig. 2a).
Ø
Place 2 ventilation elements in the top section of the chimney breast (at least 30 cm below the ceiling).
Option 3:
Ø
Do not break out the plates for the convection air connection.
Ø
Place 2 ventilation elements below the appliance to supply relatively cold air.
Ø
Place 2 ventilation elements above the fire (at least 30 cm below the ceiling).
!Caution
This option is not available in combination with a construction frame.
Existing situation or conversion without a hollow chimney breast
Ø
Do not break out the plates for the convection air connection.
Ø
The convection breast of the fire will provide sufficient convection flow.
9.2.2 Connection of the flue
9.2.2.1 Regular connection of the flue
In an existing situation the flue can be connected in 3 ways: without venting material, using a fixed connection or
by using a flexible connection.
!CAUTION
Not all connection methods are allowed in all countries! Install the appliance strictly according to the
country-specific conditions.
For the method
without venting material
you must create an airtight connection with ceramic wool between
the top side of the fire and the chimney (see paragraph 5.7.2).
When making a
fixed connection
use must be made of the specially developed tapered ring or the draining
flex/fix connecting piece. This is available through your supplier.
Proceed as follows (see Appendix 2, Fig. 3a to 3c):
Ø
Fix the ring/connecting piece using 3 bolts on the top side of the appliance.
Ø
Fit the appliance.
Ø
Slide the pipe over the tapered ring or into the draining flex/fix connecting piece.
