Configuration through the command line
You can configure the Digi ConnectPort X product by entering a series of command to set values
through the command-line interface.
Access the command-line interface
To access the command-line interface and send configuration commands to the Digi ConnectPort X
device:
1. Launch the command-line interface by using the
telnet
command.
2. To launch the CLI via telnet, issue the following
telnet
command from a command prompt on
another networked device, such as a server:
#> telnet
ip-address
Replace
ip-address
with the IP address of the Digi ConnectPort X device. For example:
#> telnet 192.3.23.5
If security is enabled for the Digi ConnectPort X device, a login prompt appears for telnet
access. If you do not know the user name and password for the device, contact the system
administrator who originally configured the device.
Basics for using the command-line interface
The Digi ConnectPort X offers online help for CLI commands. Use the following command examples to
get help for using commands.

help
displays all supported commands for a device.

?
displays all supported commands for a device.
n
set ?
displays the syntax and options for the
set
command. Use this command to determine
whether the device includes a particular
set
command variant to configure various features.

help set
displays syntax and options for the
set
command.

set serial ?
displays the syntax and options for the
set serial
command.

help set serial
displays the syntax and options for the

command.
