The Realtek RTL8801 Phy 1394A controller works with the SiS 963
chip to support IEEE 1394A. It is fully compliant with the 1394A
OHCI (Open Host Controller Interface) 1.1 specification. 1394A is a
fast external bus standard that suppor ts data transfer rates of up to
400Mbps. In addition to its high speed, it also suppor ts isochronous
data transfer which is ideal for video devices that need to transfer
high levels of data in real-time. 1394A suppor ts both Plug-and-Play
and hot plugging allowing devices to be attached or removed from
the system, even with the power on.
One card-edge bracket, mounted with 3 IEEE 1394A por ts, will be
provided as an option. Install the card-edge bracket to the system
chassis then connect the cable connectors to J14, J15 and/or J17.
Make sure pin 1 of the cable connectors is aligned with pin 1 of J14,
J15 and/or J17. Now connect your 1394A devices to the 1394A
ports that are on the bracket.
You can enable or disable the onboard 1394A controller in the
Integrated Peripherals submenu (“SIS OnChip PCI Device” field) of
the BIOS.
