4-4.3 — Sweep Menu

The

Sweep menu

allows the user to set the sweep type, hold setting, and various averaging functions.

Sweep Submenu

Sweep Type:

 Tap to toggle between

Single

, where the instrument will perform a single sweep and

then pause, and

Continuous

, where the instrument will initiate a new sweep as soon as the

previous sweep is completed.

Max Hold:

Freezes the measurement at its highest reading so far.

Average Submenu

Averaging:

Tap to toggle the averaging function

On/Off

. When On, the measurement acquires

additional samples at each frequency (or power) point and performs the averaging process. Since
this lessens the time between sample acquisitions, averaging is best for removing high rate noise.

Averaging (AVG) Factor

: Sets the number of measurements performed at each frequency point

when averaging is On, from 1 - 999. The default value is 16.

Averaging Restart

: Tap to restart the collection and per-point averaging of measurement data.

4-4.4 — Limit Menu

The

Limit main menu

contains various tools for activating and setting an upper and lower limit line on the

measurement display. The area of the meter between user-defined limit lines (i.e., the “pass” region) will be
colored green. For more information, see Section 16-2.

Limit Menu

Limit Test:

Tap to toggle the Limit Test function

On/Off

. When On, the instrument will compare the

current measurement to user-defined limit lines. If the measurement breaches a limit line, the text
“FAIL” will appear in large red text. Failing regions are colored red, and the passing region green.

Upper Value:

Sets the position of an upper limit line. If the measurement goes higher than the limit,

"FAIL” is displayed. Set this value to 0 to turn the upper limit off.

Lower Value:

Sets the position of a lower limit line. If the measurement goes lower than the limit,

"FAIL” is displayed. Set this value to 0 to turn the lower limit off.

Limit Alarm:

Tap to toggle the Limit Alarm feature

On/Off

. When on, the instrument will emit a

series of beeps to notify the user when a limit line is breached.

Limit Preset

: Resets to default settings; turns all limits off.
