Sawing off in parts:
Saw off large/long branches in sec
-
tions to give you control over the im-
pact location.
• Start by sawing off the lower branches
on the tree in order to facilitate falling
of the cut branches.
• After finishing the cut, the weight of
the saw suddenly increases for the
operator, as the saw is no longer sup-
ported on the branch. There is a risk
of losing control over the equipment.
• Pull the saw out of the cut only with
the saw chain running, in order to
avoid jamming.
• Do not saw with the tip of the cutting
equipment.
• Do not saw in the most rubbery
branches, as this inhibits the tissue
repair of the tree.
Transport
• Ensure that the equipment is switched
off when changing locations and that
fingers do not touch the on/off switch.
• Carry the equipment by the telescopic
handle with the chain and blade point-
ing backward.
• Attach the chain guard for transporting
and storing the equipment.
Maintenance and
cleaning
There is a risk of serious injury
in case of improper maintenance
and removal of safety devices.
Carry out maintenance and
cleaning work strictly with the
motor switched off and the
equipment disconnected from
the mains. Risk of injury!
Have repair and maintenance
work not described in these
instructions (e.g. changing the
carbon brushes) carried out by
a specialist workshop. Use only
original Grizzly replacement
parts. Allow the machine to
cool before all maintenance and
cleaning work. There is a risk of
burns!
Wear gloves with cut protection
when handling the saw chain.
There is a risk of injury.
Cleaning
Do not use solvents or petrol for
cleaning. These could damage the
equipment.
• Clean the surface, ventilation open-
ings and handles of the equipment
with a dry cloth, brush or hand brush.
• Only dry wipe the saw chain. After
cleaning, lightly oil the saw chain with
chain oil.
Apply individual drops of oil to the
joints and the points of the teeth on
the individual chain links.
Sharpening the cutting teeth
Leave the resharpening of a saw chain to
a specialist or proceed according to the
instructions for your saw chain sharpener.
Resharpening a saw chain takes practice.
If in doubt, it is preferable to replace the
saw chain.
