15.  TROUBLESHOOTING

Below is a list of some of the possible malfunctions.   If the problem cannot be resolved as described, contact customer services.

PROBLEM

POSSIBLE CAUSE

SOLUTION

The coffee is not hot. 

The cups were not preheated.

Warm the cups by rinsing them with hot water (Ple-

ase note: you can use the hot water function).

The internal circuits of the appliance 

have cooled down because 2/3 minu-

tes have elapsed since the last coffee 

was made.

Before making coffee, heat the infuser by perfor-

ming a rinse cycle (“7.4 Tips for a hotter coffee”)

The coffee is weak or not creamy 

enough.

The coffee is ground too coarsely.

Turn the grinding adjustment dial (A1) one click anti-

clockwise towards 1 while the coffee mill is in opera-

tion (fig. 10). Continue one click at a time until coffee 

delivery is satisfactory. The effect is visible only after 

2 coffees have been made (“7.3 Adjusting the coffee 

mill”)

The coffee is unsuitable.

Use coffee for espresso machines.

The coffee is delivered too 

slowly or a drop at a time.

The coffee is ground too finely.

Turn the grinding adjustment dial (A1) one click anti-

clockwise towards 7 while the coffee mill is in opera-

tion (fig. 10). Continue one click at a time until coffee 

delivery is satisfactory. The effect is visible only after 

2 further coffees have been made (see section “7.3 

Adjusting the coffee mill”)

Coffee does not come out of one 

or both of the spouts.

 The coffee spouts (A17) are blocked. 

Clean the spouts with a toothpick (fig. 26B)

Milk does not flow from the 

milk spout

The lid (E2) of the milk container lid is 

dirty

Clean the milk container lid as described in section  

“11.10 Cleaning the milk container”

The milk contains large bubbles 

and squirts out of the milk 

spout or there is little froth

The lid (E2) of the milk container lid is 

dirty

Clean the milk container lid as described in section  

“11.10 Cleaning the milk container”

The milk is not cold enough or is not 

semi-skimmed.

Use skimmed or semi-skimmed milk at refrigerator 

temperature (about 5°C). If the result is not as you 

wished, try changing brand of milk.

The froth adjustment dial (E1) is incor-

rectly adjusted.

Adjust following the instructions in section “8.2 

Adjusting the amount of froth”

The milk container lid (E2) or froth 

adjustment dial (E1) is dirty

Clean the milk container lid and control knob as 

described in the section  “11.10 Cleaning the milk 

container”

The appliance does not come on It is not plugged into the mains socket. Plug into the mains socket.
The appliance switches off

The appliance goes off automatically if 

not used for 30 minutes

The infuser cannot be removed

The appliance has not been turned off 

correctly

Turn the appliance off by pressing the 

 button
