Management interfaces
When the hardware installation is complete, use the PowerVault Manager to configure, monitor, and manage the storage
system. The controller module also supports a command-line interface (CLI) for command line entry and scripting. For details,
see the
Dell PowerVault ME5 Series Storage System CLI Guide
for your system.
Operation
CAUTION:
Operating an enclosure with CRU modules disrupts the airflow, and prevents the enclosure from
cooling sufficiently. All the slots in an enclosure must contain modules while the enclosure is in use, including
drive carrier blanks in empty drive slots for 2U enclosures.
●
Read the module bay caution label affixed to the controller modules being replaced.
●
Replace a defective power cooling module (PCM) with a fully operational PCM within 24 hours. Do not remove a defective
PCM unless you have a replacement model of the correct type ready for insertion.
●
Disconnect power from a PCM or power supply unit (PSU) to be replaced before removing the PCM or PSU.
●
Read the hazardous voltage warning label that is affixed to PCMs.
CAUTION:
5U84 enclosures only
●
To prevent overturning, drawer interlocks stop users from opening both drawers simultaneously. Do not
attempt to force open a drawer when the other drawer in the enclosure is already open. In a rack containing
more than one 5U84 enclosure, do not open more than one drawer per rack at a time.
●
Read the hot surface label that is affixed to the drawer. Operating temperatures inside enclosure drawers
can reach 60ºC. Take care when opening drawers and removing DDICs.
●
Due to product acoustics, ear protection should be worn during prolonged exposure to the product in
operation.
●
Do not use open drawers to support any other objects or equipment.
NOTE:
See
for details about enclosure options.
