The computer can support a mixture of a traditional ISA expansion card (called
legacy
expansion cards), Plug and Play ISA expansion cards, and PCI expansion cards. The
system basic input/output system (BIOS) allows you to install both PCI and ISA Plug
and Play expansion cards without performing manual configuration tasks.
NOTE: If you are using the Windows NT operating system, you should configure an
ISA expansion card manually. If you do not have a manually configurable card, you can
use the ISA Configuration Utility (ICU) to manage an ISA expansion card. This utility
can be downloaded from the Dell World Wide Web site at
http://www.dell.com
.

To install an expansion card, perform the following steps:
1.
Prepare the expansion card for installation as instructed in the documentation
that came with the expansion card.
Check the documentation to make sure the card is configured to work with other
devices already installed in your computer. Set any necessary jumpers or
switches on the card to avoid conflicts with devices already installed.
2.
Remove the computer cover and support beam according to the instructions in
“Removing and Replacing the Computer Cover and Support Beam” found earlier
