Clearing forgotten passwords

Procedure
1 Locate the password jumper (P215) on the system board.
For information on the location of the Password jumper, see
System-board components .
2 Remove the jumper plug from pins 215.
3 Follow the procedure from step 8 to step 9 in "
Replacing the power-supply unit ".
4 Replace the left-side cover .
5 Turn on your computer and wait until the operating system is completely loaded.
6 Shut down your computer.
7 Remove the
left-side cover .
8 Follow the procedure from step 1 to step 3 in " Removing the power-supply unit ".
9 Replace the jumper plug on pins 215.
Flashing the BIOS
You may need to flash (update) the BIOS when an update is available or when you replace the system board.
Follow these steps to flash the BIOS:
1 Turn on your computer.
2 Go to www.dell.com/support .
