1. Connection of test cables
The PA DRL test adapter is connected to the PM 20 SPD tester, which has to be switched off,
via the test cables included in delivery:
-
PA DRL; input socket (red)
Test cable (red)
PM 20; output socket (red)
-
PA DRL; input socket (blue)
Test cable (black)
PM 20; output socket (black)
(see
figure, test set-up 2, page 18)
1.1 Connection of the power supply unit
The power supply unit is connected to the PM 20 via the enclosed phone jack adapter (see
figure, test set-up 2, page 18). Alternatively, the PM 20 tester can be operated by means of a
9 V battery.
2. Test procedure
2.1 The PM 20 tester may only be switched on if the test set-up is protected against contact!
The protection module to be tested is inserted into the connection plug board of the
PA DRL
test adapter. Then, the cover (contact closure) of the
PA DRL
test adapter has to be closed (see
figure, test set-up 2, page 18)!
2.2 For more detailed information on measurements required for testing a protective module,
please refer to the test scheme and the evaluation table (see pages 19 to 21).
The test programme (programme selector switch, test circuit selector switch and polarity
selector switch) has to be set before testing. When measuring, only one of the two connection
plug boards may be occupied.
Protective device DPL 10 F ... type
-
When testing protective devices of the
DPL 10 ...
type, only the upper connection plug board
may be used, which is labelled
DPL 10
on the right-hand side.
-
When plugging in the protective device, the plug direction
[IN/OUT]
has to be observed!
The plug direction is marked by
IN OUT
at the left-hand side of the connection plug board. For
protective devices of the DPL 10... type the relevant test programmes have to be carried out
for each test circuit. Test circuits 1 to 10 are switched on via the test circuit selector switch
(see page 20).
Protective device DPL 1 ... type
-
When testing protective devices of the
DPL 1 ...
type, only the lower connection plug board
may be used, which is labelled
DPL 1
on the right-hand side.
-
When plugging in the protective device, the plug direction
[IN/OUT]
is mechanically preset by
means of contact leading (PG connection) of the protective device. The protective device is
plugged into the contact of the earthing bracket and respectively into the connection plug board
at the contact leading side (PG connection). Up to ten protective devices of the DPL 1 ... type
can be tested at the same time by means of the lower connection plug board. Test circuits 1
to 10 are switched on by means of the test circuit selector switch. The relevant test programmes
have to be performed for each test circuit (see page 19).
Protective device DRL 1 ... type
-
When testing protective devices of the
DRL 1 ...
type, only the upper connection plug board
may be used, which is labelled
DRL
on the right-hand side.
-
If
DRL 1 ...
protective devices are to be tested, the
EF 10 DRL
earthing frame has to be
plugged onto the connection plug board (included in the scope of delivery).
