General Instructions for Use
1.1
PHV I Phase Comparators may only be used in installations they are designed and
marked for with corresponding labels on their rating plate (e.g. nominal voltage,
nominal frequency, eventually kind of application or installation).
1.2
If the PHV I Phase Comparator is dirty, it has to be cleaned with a clean, unfuzzy
cloth (see also 9) before use.
1.3
Phase comparators have to be checked on faultless operation shortly before and
after use.
1.4
During operation, phase comparators may only be taken by the handle and have
to be led from a safe position to ensure that the user himself always keeps the
necessary safety distance from all potential live parts of the installation
(see also 2.5).
The user must keep away from live installations in order not to be
at any risk.
1.5
When contacting the test electrode/contact electrode of the PHV I Phase Comparator,
the test electrode has to be kept as far away as possible from other live or non-
earthed parts.
The requirements on this PHV I Phase Comparator are based on the reduced values
of the min. distances according to DIN VDE 0101. Therefore, this PHV I Phase
Comparator can be used in prefabricated, type-tested installations (in accordance
with VDE 0670) only under limited conditions. The user of the PHV I Phase
Comparator or the operator of the switchgear has to consult the manufacturer of
the prefabricated switchgear whether and where the PHV I Phase Comparator may
be used.
