6. Test procedure
Testing is only allowed if the
“Notes on safe operation”
of the relevant
PHE4
voltage detector are
observed (see 5., page 8).
6.1 Test scope
The
PHE4
voltage detector performs a functional test when it is switched on. If this functional test was
successful, the
green LED
appears and shows that the detector is operational (see also Fig. 6.1, page
11).
The functional test includes the following functions:
Testing the charging state of the batteries
Testing the electronic circuits, particularly also the input circuit and test electrode
(
Attention:
The short category ‘L‘ test electrode is not part of the test)
Testing the light-emitting diodes
The sound generator is not automatically tested. Therefore, the acoustic signal must be clearly audible
during the functional test.
The
PHE4
voltage detector may only be used if readiness for operation is indicated. The voltage detector
is
not
automatically switched on when contacting live parts.
6.2 Functional test procedure
See also Fig. 6.1, page 11
Press the red
switch-on button
on the indicator for at least
3 seconds
:
The red LEDs
flash three times
, the acoustic signal sounds at the same time. After that, the red LEDs
light up permanently and a continuous acoustic signal sounds.
Release the
switch-on button
:
The green LED lights up and shows that the voltage detector is operational (no acoustic signal).
The functional test of the voltage detector is only successful if both the red LED is visible and the
acoustic signal sounds.
6.3 Readiness for operation and switch off
The device is operational for about
4 minutes
and automatically switches off after this period.
If the red LEDs light up (“operating voltage present”), switch off is invalid and the switch-off time starts
again.
The device can be immediately switched off by shortly pressing the
switch-on button
.
