16.0 Firmware Updates
The i50 firmware can be updated by connecting a programming cable to the RJ-45 Prog connector
on the front panel, and using the Rabbit Field Utility (RFU) program. Programming cables may be
purchased from Datalink Systems, or made with generic RJ-45 and DB-9 connectors using the pin-
outs defined in section 4.3.
New: The iSeries Programmer application can now update i50 firmware as well.
Note: firmware updates
may reset the i50’s internal data buffer. If the buffer contains
important information, please ensure that the unit has connected to a server and sent its
buffer before updating firmware. Certain firmware updates or downgrades may also reset the
device settings to default values. It is recommended to save current settings before modifying
firmware.

Use the Setup menu to access the File locations screen, as shown in Figure 10. Ensure the locations
point to the files supplied with the RFU program.
