15.3 Digital Outputs/VOUT
The digital outputs and VOUT can be configured as follows:
-
General Output. Output state can be set in the i50 settings, and/or controlled remotely
via a DataGate server.
-
Alert Output. Designed to connect to an external buzzer or siren. This pin changes to
indicate the current alarm state.
-
Overspeed. Activates when overspeed condition is detected.
-
Network Status. Turns on when connection to server is available.
-
GPS Status. Activates when GPS signal is valid.
-
RX/TX. Turns on briefly when receiving or transmitting data.
-
Satellite mode. Activates when using a satellite modem.
-
Awake state. Output is active while unit is awake, and turns off when unit is sleeping or
in periodic wakeup mode. This is the default setting for the VOUT pin.
-
No Driver Beeper. Output pulses regularly while IGN is turned on and no driver is
logged in. Output chirps twice when a driver logs in using a recognised iButton/RFID
tag, or three times if an unrecognised iButton or RFID tag is received.
-
Check Bus Output. The output becomes active when IGN is turned off, and deactivates
when the Check Bus Input is triggered.
-
RFID Beeper. The output pulses when an RFID tag is detected.
-
No Driver Relay. Output is active while no driver is logged in. This is intended to switch
an external relay to disable the vehicle starter until a driver logs in. The output can be
forced active via a remote command, allowing a vehicle to be locked remotely, even if a
valid driver logs in.
-
Channel Select 1-4. Output is active when the i50 enters an RF zone. See table below.
The output polarity settings control the active switch state. Note that the four digital outputs are
actively pulled to ground when set to a low voltage, but left floating in the high voltage state. VOUT is
turned off when set low, and on when set high.
