The gage will then give the option to enter a prefix.  This is optional

For all options.  The gage will then ask for starting and ending columns.   Use the 

arrow

 keys followed by 

MENU/OK

 to enter in the column values.   The starting 

and ending IDs must have the same number of characters.   
 
For 2D files the gage will also ask for Row start and end points  
For 3D files the gage will ask for starting and ending columns, rows and points.
