6.4 Built-In Test Functions
6.4.1 Optical Loop-Back Function
To test the optical link between
tHost™
and
t43™
s that are part of the star network (maximum 6 spoke star
network supported), the process is as follows:
•
Test data frame (pattern) is generated by functional block inside master
tHost™
•
Data frame is communicated to
t43™
•
Data pattern is looped back to
tHost™
, where it is verified and results communicated,
via GUI or SNMP
6.4.2
t43™
Delay Equalization Function
See Section 5.3.1.3.
6.4.3 M&C Communication Status – Heartbeat Function
For timely evaluation of the M&C link between
tHost™
and each
t43™
connected in a star, daisy-chain, or hybrid
star/daisy-chain network, each
t43™
slave microprocessor is sending a test data frame to the
tHost™
master
microprocessor. A test frame is communicated via the M&C channel, framed with subscriber/payload data and
transferred via the optical interface every 3 seconds.
tHost™
master microprocessor listens for unique test
frames from various
t43™
s. If a test frame is not received or is corrupted, the
tHost™
issues an M&C
Communication Failure Alarm for a particular
t43™
.
