DAKO 5140
PRECAUTIONS
•
The machine must be used by properly trained adult
persons.
•
In consideration of the machine weight, any
displacement must be carried out by means of a
suitable mean.
•
Avoid installing the machine close to a steam generator.
•
During any displacement or transport, keep the
machine upright (not horizontal). The machine must
always stand on its feet.
•
Wear safety glasses with dark lens (the glasses are
included in the kit provided with the machine). The
light produced by the melting metal could cause
damages to the sight.
•
Always use tongs to take off the crucible and the flask.
•
Never start the casting process unless the crucible
has been put in place. In case of use of a ceramic
crucible, at least 15 gr of alloy must be herein.
•
Avoid switching off the machine with heating coil up
and hot crucible dipped in the heating coil.
•
Check the turns of the heating coil are not in contact
with each other.
•
Make a flask large enough. The use of too small a
flask could cause the early cooling of a part of the metal.
•
Never use metal dirty of oil, grease or investment.
•
Align the outlet of the crucible with the inlet of theflask,
then slightly turn the crucible in the counter-clockwise
direction of rotation.
•
Make sure the electric system is equipped with
ground safety cutout and protective earthing.
•
Use only ceramic rods to touch the metal into the
crucible during the casting process.
UNPACKING
The machine is delivered in a cardboard box laid on a
wooden board. To remove the packaging, perform the
following steps:
•
Cut off the straps.
•
Cut the adhesive tape and open the upper part of
the cardboard box.
•
Remove the staples from the base of the box.
•
Remove the box slipping it upwards.
•
Remove the board and place the machine on the floor.
•
Do not try to open the lid. The lid can be opened only
after the machine has been installed and plugged
in.It is necessary to fill its water tank like explained
at “charging with cooling water” and Plug the device
into a suitable socket, like explained at “POWER
SUPPLY”
POSITIONING
•
The machine must be placed in a dry place free of
dust, without any boilers or furnaces for flasks, in
particular the gas ones especially if their draught is
not quite in order.
•
Always place the machine on a flat surface. Check
the surface flatness by means of a spirit level.
POWER SUPPLY
·
The machine must be earthed by law.
·
Must be installated by a qualified electrician
capable of checking that it is earthed.
·
The manufacturer declines all responsability for
any damage or injury caused by failure to comply
with this requirement.
•
Plug the device into a suitable socket, having voltage
and power rating corresponding to the rated output
of the device, and fitted with ground.
ACTIVATION
Charging with cooling water
Take off the plug from the socket, if it’s in. Remove the
front panel (11, fig. 1), then pour approx. seven litres of
distilled water into the tank. Replace the front panel,
and then put the plug in the socket again.
Assembling the portlight
In case the portlight is not in place or was removed,
follow this procedure:
1. Pull out from the box of the accessories the envelope
containing the glass, the glass fastener, a grid and
three fastening screws.
2. Place the glass over the porthole in contact with the
lid, then place the grid and the glass fastener.
3. Secure the whole with the three fastening screws.
Assembling the centrifugation arm
If the arm has not been installed or it must be replaced,
perform the following steps:
1. Pull the centrifugation arm out from the box of the
accessories.
2. Switch on the machine by setting the main switch
(1, fig. 5) to I.
3. Open the machine lid (7, fig. 1)
4. Undo completely the handwheel.
5. Insert the centrifugal arm and place on the driving
shaft so that the lower slots rest on the drawbolt and
the crucible side is turned towards the direction of
the arrow printed on the driving shaft.
6. Put the two washers on the driving shaft, first the
plain washer and then the indented one.
7. Tighten the central handwheel.
