7.C REPLACEMENT OF HEPA FILTERS (by technical assistance personnel)
Important: before replacing HEPA filters, it is absolutely necessary that:
- if
pathogens have been manipulated, the cabinet must be decontaminated and the user must
issue a sterilization certificate to the personnel before the start of the operation.
- if only cytostatic products have been manipulated, the user must decontaminate the work surface,
the work chamber and the spillage tray under the work surface following the decontamination
procedure shown by the manufacturers of the drugs;
- for the safety of the personnel and the environment, the use of PVC gloves is recommended as
well as the collection of the replaced HEPA filters in polyethylene bags.
Replacement of MAIN/EXHAUST HEPA filter (see diagram for maintenance operations par. 13A):
1.
Switch off the cabinet and disconnect it from the mains
2.
Remove the panel (4) by unscrewing screw (1) and (2)
3.
Open control panel (5) by unscrewing fastening screws (6), lifting and locking it with the special stirrup
(7).
4.
Remove internal panel (8).
5.
Rotate both threaded bars (9) to lift the plenum-fan group and unlock filter (11).
6.
Remove filter (11) wearing protective rubber or PVC gloves and put it in a hermetically sealed polythene
bag.
7.
Place the additional gasket (if it is not already present) on the filter shoulder frame opposite the shoulder
gasket of filter (already present).
8.
Install new filter HEPA (11).
9.
Lock filter HEPA (11) by means of the two threaded locking bars (9).
10. Rotate both fastening threaded bars (12) to lift exhaust plenum-motor group (13) and unlock filter HEPA
(14).
11. Proceed as indicated in 5, 6, and 7.
12. Installal and lock new HEPA filter (14) by rotating both fastening threaded bars (12).
13. Re-close internal panel "8" with the special fastening screws.
14. Unlock stirrup (7) and re-close control panel (5) with the special fastening screws (6).
15. Close the upper panel (4) again with the proper fastening screws (1) and (2).
16. Proceed with the necessary control-calibration procedures of the laminar air-flow cabinet.
NOTE: Gaskets should be of the closed-cell type and have no interstices in the joining points.
Gaskets of neoprene, hypalon, etc. may be replaced by CAF-type non-adhesive silicone.
