DES-3326SR Layer 3 Fast Ethernet Switch User’s Guide
225
The following fields can be set or are displayed:
Parameter Description
Transit Area ID
Allows the entry of an OSPF Area ID
−
previously defined on the switch
−
that allows a remote area to
communicate with the backbone
(area 0). A Transit Area cannot be a
Stub Area or a Backbone Area.
Neighbor Router
The OSPF router ID for the remote
router. This is a 32-bit number in
the
form
of
an
IP
address
(xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx) that uniquely
identifies the remote area’s Area
Border Router.
Status
Displays the current status (
UP
or
DOWN
) of the corresponding OSPF
Virtual Interface.
Area Aggregation Configuration
Area Aggregation allows all of the routing information that may
be contained within an area to be aggregated into a summary
LSDB advertisement of just the network address and subnet
mask. This allows for a reduction in the volume of LSDB
advertisement traffic as well as a reduction in the memory
overhead in the switch used to maintain routing tables.
