Troubleshooting
About this chapter
This troubleshooting guide is intended to aid the operator if problems arise. If the
problem cannot be solved after consulting this guide, contact your local Cytiva
representative for advice.
Potential problems
This table lists solutions to the most common problems with Adjustable Oligo Column.
Problem
Possible cause
Solution
High back pressure
Valves between the
pump and the waste
vessel are not open.
Open all valves between
the pump and the waste
vessel fully.
Valves and tubing are not
clean and free from
internal blockage.
Clean all valves and
tubing and remove any
internal blockage.
Column filters are
blocked. Air may be
trapped in the filter.
Always wet and flush with
95% ethanol or
acetonitrile before use.
Tubing is bent.
Straighten the tubing.
Leakage from the column
The solvents used are not
compatible with the
gaskets and the tubing.
Refer to the ÄKTA
oligopilot plus Operating
Instructions for
compatible solvents.
The O-ring on the
adapter lid leaks.
Clean the O-ring.
Make sure the O-ring is
correctly fitted.
Connections are
incorrectly fitted.
Make sure all
connections are correctly
fitted. Check the
connections to and from
the pump – air can leak
into the column from the
suction side of the pump.
